Makalu trekking in located in the eastern part of Nepal. It is protected by the Makalu Barun National Park and Conservation Project, which covers 2330 sq km. Mt. Makalu, the fifth highest mountain of the world (8,463m) stand in this region. It is formally a restricted area of eastern part of Nepal. It is extended to 5 major ecological zones of lush, tropical Arun valley, dense forest, fir and alpine meadows. The trail ranges from 850m to 5000m offering impressive natural scenery and the main focal point of Makalu. Plants of all major ecological zones: tropical, sub-tropical, temperate, alpine and sub-alpine are found here. Having a wide range of altitudinal and climatic variations, the Makalu Barun area offers a remarkable and diverse habitat for a rich variety of flora and fauna.
