Rupina La pass Trekking 25 Days


Rupina La pass Trek- 4,520m is absolutely challenging, adventurous and tricky trek route lying in the lower Manaslu region of the Gorkha district. It was officially opened for tourist since 1991 AD. This trek takes us to the geographically spectacular and unbeaten trail of the Manaslu region, the mountain ranges of Manaslu; peak 29 (7871m) Himal Chuli 7,893m and Boudha 6,672m. This trek starts from Gorkha following the Darundikhola Crosses the Rupina-La 4520m and Larkye- pass(5250m).

Well known as “Japanese Mountain” much of the information about the area was available in Japanese. The Japanese continued to dominate the climbing scene of Manaslu until 1971. A few trekkers including peripatetic Hugh Swift Managed to obtain the trekking permit for the region but otherwise this trek always has been the domain of the mountaineering expedition.

Manaslu Rupina la pass trekking is geographically spectacular and culturally fascinating circumnavigating Manaslu peak 29 (7871m) Himal Chuli (7893m) and Boudha (6672m). Mostly Manaslu Rupina la pass trekking trails cover with Tibetan culture. Manaslu Rupina la pass trekking offer superb view of Himalayan panorama, Lush valleys, beautiful landscape, wild animals and birds. We cross the Rupina-La (4520m) and descend to the Buri Gandaki River, where we continue our trekking up to Larke Pass and descend down to Marshyangdi valley and finally we reach at Besisahar. Besisahar is district headquater of Lamjung where we take vehicle to Kathmandu.

The trekking route covers many villages mainly inhabited by Gurungs and gives us a chance to be a part of amazing culture and tradition. Rupina la trek route is very rich in green rhododendron and pine forest, exceptionally altering geographical terrain and offers us with excellent view of Himalayan scenery, rivers and waterfalls, beautiful landscapes, lush valleys and wide range of animals and birds. We finally start descending through the steep hills and head toward Ningalaghari 4,590m and then to Chyadi dada 3600m enjoying the serene path of the forest and green hills. After reaching the village of Tonje we get to treasure various traditional and cultural programs of the local people after a brief stay at the village we gradually move ahead to the end of the trip. Our marvelous trekking of Rubina-la pass abolishes when we reach Besisahar through the path of Duwar.

Since the Rupina La pas trek roams around the area of Manaslu conversation area which is a restricted area certain permission and formalities is required by the Government of Nepal to join this trek route. Rupina la Trek area Dudh pokhari (Milky Pond) is a pilgrimage site with interest to various Buddhist and Hindus. This place is the best of this trip to view various mountains in Manaslu range, we can get exceptional view of various named and unnamed mountain as far as to the Annapurna region from Dudh Pokhari.

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu

Day 2: Sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley
Today after having breakfast we will take you to the most admired sightseeing areas of Kathmandu which is proud as well as pride of Nepalese people. You will relish an ancient treasure Basantapur Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa and  Swayambhunath Stupa which reflects the local culture and tradition of Nepalese society. We will take you back to the hotel where you will spend overnight.

Day 3: Drive to gorkha Bajar - 5 hours
This morning we will drive from Kathmandu to Gorkha Bajar.

Day 4: Trek to Nibel (700M / 2296FT)
This day we will trek to Nibel.

Day 5: Trek to Chanaute (650M / 2132FT)
This day we will trek to Chanaute.

Day 6: Trek to Mandere Khola (1200M / 3936FT)
This day we will trek to Mandere Khola.

Day 7: Trek to Barpak (1900M / 6232FT)
This day we will trek to Chanaute.

Day 8: Trek to kharka (2800M / 9184FT)

Day 9: Trek to Rupinala Phedi (BASE 1200M / 3936FT)
This day we will trek to Rupinala Phedi.

Day 10: Rupinal Pass (4643M / 15229FT) Cross frist Glacier
This day we will go through Rupinala Pass crossing first glacier.

Day 11: Cross First Clacier Overnight at Forest Under / Side of Glacier
After crossing the first glacier we will overnight stay at forest beside the glacier.

Day 12: Trek to Bihi Phedi (1980M / 6494FT) 4 hours
Today is a shorter walk as we enter the area influenced by Buddhism. After a few more ups and downs through forests, the trail turns a corner and arrives at Ghap through an intricate kind with well preserved paintings and elegant many walls.

Day 13: Trek to Namrung (2650M / 8692FT )- 6 - 7 hours
The valley becomes steeper and there is a long climb through bamboo and rhododendron to the village of Namrung. The trail now enters the Nupri region. The people here are descendants of Tibetan migrants who arrived over 500 years ago. Typical Tibetan features include the entrance gates to the villages, many walls and Buddhist gompas. Beyond here the valley opens out and soon passes through the Tibetan village of Sho. Above this village we get views of Manaslu and Naike Peak and from the next village of Lho we see Ganesh I down the valley.

Day 14: Trek to Lho
From Lho, we follow the right bank of the river with views of Peak 29 ahead. A couple of hours climbing through the forest bring us to the village of Shyala, offering superb views of Phungi, Manaslu and HimalChuli. Crossing a wide pasture with many marmots we enter the village of Samagaon. Our camp is at the top end of the village below the impressive SamaGompa with impressive views of Manaslu.  Acclimatization day at Samoan (3,450m).

Day 15: Trek to Samdo And Excursion (3780M / 12398FT)
This day we will trek to Samdo and excursion.

Day 16: Rest in Samdo
After two nights at Samagaon to help acclimatization. There is a worthwhile day walk to the Pung Gyen monastery which has superb views of Manaslu and Peak.

Day 17: Trek to Dharmasala / Larkya Phedi (4480M / 14694FT) - 3 hours  
Today we start the ascent to the pass by descending through fields to an old mani wall and stone arch before dropping to the river and crossing on a wooden bridge. This place shows up on maps as the mythical Larka Bazaar, which used to be a flourishing market, but there is nothing remaining there now. Another mani wall marks the beginning of ascent to the pass where the trail starts climbing through tundra and juniper; the huge Larkya Glacier coming from Manaslu can be seen from here. Stay on the ridge to the right to find a trail that crosses over the top of two ravines. The trail grows steeper, climbing up the side of a gorge to a viewpoint at the edge of a Fhuge gorge at 4000m. Nearing the Larkya Glacier, we reach Larkya Phedi, where there is a small lodge, built to serve travellers crossing the Larkya La which lies now just ahead.

Day 18: Larkya la pass (5,135M / 16843FT), trek to Bhimthang (3,590M  /11775FT)- 7 - 8 hours
After an early start, we soon reach the ablation valley on the left side of the Larkya Glacier with impressive views of Cho Danda and Larkya Peak. We continue walking along glacial moraine and start making the gradual ascent to the summit of the Larkya pass. From the top, there is a panorama view of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru and Annapurna 2. On the descent the trail follows the top of the moraine to the west and makes a set of steep, rough switchbacks as it crosses the moraine then descends more gently on snow to a grassy moraine. Depending on the conditions if icy then crampons and ice axe are advisable for the descent. The trail now becomes easier to follow and reaches a small meadow and spring at 4,080m. The valley becomes wider as the trails heads down to a large meadow, past a many wall and a small rest house that marks Bimthang at 3,590m on a broad and level ablation valley.

Day 19: Trek to Goh (2900M / 9512FT) 6 - 7 hours
After crossing the pastures of Bimthang the trail drops to a glacial stream at the headwaters of the Dudh Khola, crosses a wooden bridge and descends into pine and rhododendron forest. Not far from here you reach Karche`s fenced fields, then cross a landslide before making a steep climb to a ridge decorated with prayer flags before making a descent to the river bank at Gho. The trail continues through fields and intermittent stands of rhododendron and oak to arrive at Tilje, a large Gurung village.

Day 20: Trek to kotre (1700M / 5576FT)
Exit the village through a stone arch, cross the Dudh Khola and follow along its embankment descending through scrub forest. The walls of the Marsyangdi Valley loom larger and finally the houses of Dharapani appear in the distance. Pass through Thonje via a wooden bridge and through a chorten-shaped arch and Dharapani lies across a long suspension bridge over the Marsyangdi. The trail now follows the Annapurna Circuit route in reverse as you pass through the steepest part of the Marsyangdi  gorge.

Day 21: Trek to Syange (1900m / 6232FT) 5 - 5 hours
This day we will trek to Syange.

Day 22: Trek to Khudi, 4 - 5 hours
This day we will trek to Khudi.

Day 23: Drive back to Kathmandu
This day we will drive back to Kathmandu and after your safe return to Kathmandu you will be escorted to hotel and overnight stay there.

Day 24: Rest day in Kathmandu
A day of rest and relaxation, you can go for shopping and sightseeing. After breakfast we will drive to Kathmandu Durbar Square. After Kathmandu Durbar Square we will be visiting Swoyambhunath Stupa. Swoyambhunath is believed to have been established more than 2,500 years ago. Swoyambhunath has developed into an important center of Buddhism. Our next destination is Patan Durbar square after then we will proceed for sightseeing tour to Great Stupa of Boudhanath. In the evening we will have fare well dinner together at an Authentic Nepalese restaurant.

Day 25: Departure
Our splendid journey in Nepal abolishes here and we will convoy you to the airport according to your scheduled flight and bid you farewell.
