Trip Overview

The trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC) via Rumbuk is a unique and less-traveled route. Being at the base of the world’s highest peak is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Rich biodiversity, including rare species like the snow leopard and red panda. The bustling Sherpa town is the gateway to the high Himalayas, spiritual insights and breathtaking views of Ama Dablam and Everest.

  • Flight: The flight to Lukla is short but scenic, offering stunning views of the Himalayas.
  • Trek: The trek to Phakding is a gentle walk through the Dudh Kosi valley, passing by small Sherpa villages and Buddhist monasteries.

  • Trail: Follow the Dudh Kosi River, cross suspension bridges, and ascend through pine forests.
  • Namche Bazaar: The largest town in the Khumbu region, known for its vibrant market and as a central trading hub.

  • Activities: Short hikes to Everest View Hotel or Khumjung Village.
  • Purpose: Acclimatization is crucial for preventing altitude sickness. Use this day to explore and adjust to the altitude.

  • Trail: The path offers spectacular views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and other peaks.
  • Tengboche Monastery: The largest monastery in the Khumbu region, an important spiritual center for the Sherpas.

  • Trail: Pass through Rhododendron forests and cross the Imja Khola.
  • Dingboche: Known as the summer valley, offers a broad view of the beautiful valley.

  • Activities: Optional hike to Nagarjun Hill (5,100m) for acclimatization and panoramic views.
  • Purpose: Further acclimatization to prepare for higher altitudes.

  • Trail: The route includes a steep climb to Dughla and a walk through the Khumbu Glacier moraine.

  • Trail: Pass through the rocky moraine of the Khumbu Glacier.
