Itinerary

  • Arrive in Kathmandu, meet your trekking team, and prepare for the trek. Obtain necessary permits and equipment checks. Explore Kathmandu if time permits.

  • Take an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,840m) and start trekking to Phakding (2,610m).
  • Trek Duration: 3-4 hours

  • Continue trekking along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing suspension bridges to reach Namche Bazaar (3,440m).
  • Trek Duration: 5-6 hours

  • Acclimatize in Namche Bazaar with a short hike to Everest View Hotel or explore the local Sherpa culture and markets.

  • Trek through rhododendron forests to Tengboche (3,870m), home to Tengboche Monastery with panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam.
  • Trek Duration: 5-6 hours

  • Descend to Debuche and cross the Imja River before climbing to Pangboche. Continue to Dingboche (4,360m), with stunning views of Lhotse and Island Peak.
  • Trek Duration: 5-6 hours

  • Another acclimatization day in Dingboche. Hike to Nagarjun Hill or Chukkung Ri for acclimatization and panoramic views.

  • Trek to Lobuche (4,940m), passing through Dugla and the memorial area for climbers lost on Everest.
  • Trek Duration: 5-6 hours

  • Trek to Gorak Shep (5,170m) and continue to Everest Base Camp (5,364m). Explore Everest Base Camp and return to Gorak Shep.
  • Trek Duration: 7-8 hours

  • Early morning hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m) for sunrise views of Everest and surrounding peaks. Descend to Lobuche.
  • Trek Duration: 7-8 hours

  • Trek to Island Peak Base Camp (5,200m), passing through Khumbu Glacier and lateral moraine.
  • Trek Duration: 3-4 hours

  • Rest and acclimatize at Island Peak Base Camp. Review climbing techniques and prepare for the summit push.

  • Climb to Island Peak High Camp (5,600m) and prepare for the summit attempt.
  • Climb Duration: 3-4 hours

  • Summit Island Peak (6,189m) early in the morning. Descend back to Base Camp and continue to Chhukung (4,730m).
  • Climb Duration: 10-12 hours (summit day)

  • A reserve day in case of bad weather or for extra acclimatization.

  • Trek back to Tengboche, retracing your steps through Pangboche and Debuche.
  • Trek Duration: 5-6 hours

  • Trek from Tengboche to Namche Bazaar and continue to Lukla.
  • Trek Duration: 6-7 hours

  • Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu. Rest and relax in Kathmandu or explore more of the city.

  • Depart from Kathmandu, concluding your Island Peak trek and climb adventure.

  • Climbing permit for Island Peak, Sagarmatha National Park entry fee, TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System) card.
  • Domestic flights (Kathmandu-Lukla-Kathmandu), airport transfers in Kathmandu.
  • Accommodation in Kathmandu (typically on a bed and breakfast basis), tea house or lodge accommodation during the trek.
  • Meals during the trek (breakfast, lunch, dinner), usually from a set menu at tea houses/lodges.
  • Experienced trekking guide, climbing guide for Island Peak, porters to carry trekking gear.
  • Basic climbing gear (ropes, ice axe, crampons, harness), camping equipment at Island Peak Base Camp and High Camp.
